sheroesmarianne greenwood was a swedish photographer & author who left her native lappland to travel alone around the world spending decades living with indigenous people in the americas & south pacific. she also lived in different parts of europe, befriending picasso among others & eventually settling in the south of france. she came to my knowledge via a swedish documentary made a few years ago but I don't think there is a comprehensive photography book on her work as yet. 30,000 of her photo's are apparently here at the ethnographic museum in stockholm...if you havent seen the documentary, i highly recommend you do, her story & her work are just fantastic. photo's via official website

so sometimes it's nice to make something different....was thinking about making a separate swan piece to layer over anything, then a customer contacted me asking for just that. coincidence? ok so this is certainly different! there is even no category for this...is it a belt, is it a scarf? i don't know but it's fun to make crazy weird things sometimes. keep getting images in my head of things to wear underneath, the possibilities are endless....what do you think?

recently i became aware of this website kickstarter.com which enables creative people from all over the world to fund projects online. the best part of it is that regular people can fund the projects & help make these crazy wonderful ideas a reality....i'm constantly amazed by some of the projects & here is another one that i think is totally awesome.....

all this news of cyclones & bunkering down makes me think suzanne husky's sleeper cells would be the perfect safe little hideaway for the night. i would set it up in the bedroom with lots of books, pillows & snacks. the organic shapes & shingles somehow remind me of german architecture... this is an art project but also a reminder that modern buildings don't have to be so clean & boring.
suzanne husky's other projects include sending musicians & shamans into nature to promote healing, which is a nice idea & kind of interesting but I'm pretty sure most animals just want us humans to go away & leave them alone!

i would looove to have a whole bunch of pets, especially a cat & a dog but knowing we arent here on a permanent basis puts a halt to that for now......here is some stuff on my 'when we finally settle somewhere' wishlist...can you believe these beds from likekittysville? they are soo beautiful...
is it local?
we don't have a tv & usually i don't miss it, but really wish i could catch an episode of this new show 'portlandia' on IFC in the states....it looks hilarious! if it were based in europe it could also be called södermalm...or berlin...or...
